People United is an innovative charity that explores how the arts and creativity can grow kindness, empathy and a sense of common humanity. People United work with artists, academics and activists to explore the potential of the arts in making a difference in the world. It is their vision to create a more kind and caring society through the arts.
Their work involves people from across society and across art forms. It takes place in a range of settings from bingo halls and beach huts, to shopping centres, hospitals and at home in front of a computer. A vital feature of their work is that it is thoroughly researched and professionally evaluated. Their academic partner is the internationally recognised Centre for the Study of Group Processes, part of the School of Psychology at the University of Kent led by Professor Dominic Abrams.

People United are based in Canterbury Innovation Centre on the campus of the University of Kent and work in the South East of England but they also work in partnership with organisations, communities and artists from across the UK.
In 2016 People United celebrates its 10th anniversary. It’s with this in mind that they are offering work experience placements.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to get involved with a creative charity which is making a substantial impact through their mission to spread kindness.
