Information for Employers

The Employability Points Scheme is an unique and innovative approach towards enhancing student employability, whilst providing employers with access to the most engaged students at the University of Kent. Only students who have earned enough points by engaging with co-curricular activities throughout their time at university can apply for the more valuable rewards.

How does it work?

  • Between August and mid-February, organisations can offer 'rewards' through the Employability Points Scheme.
  • In mid-March, students with sufficient points submit their applications for rewards.
  • The EP team shortlist the candidates in early April and liaise with you regarding the interview process.
  • Interviews are held at our Canterbury campus throughout May.
  • The rewards commence from June onwards.

  • If you are interested in offering an internship, project opportunity, work experience or something else, please email the EP team to discuss how this can be embedded within the current programme.

    Head in the Game

    Jemma Bailey

Forever grateful to Matthew Witts and Mark Pinkney for enrolling me as a volunteer to help create the first ever women’s Head In The Game (HITG) program!

I achieved this through an employability scheme at the University of Kent and was successful when interviewing amongst my peers. My interests in Psychology and mental health allowed me to create the program with much excitement. After the course was ready, myself, Matthew, and Lisa encouraged women aged 18-55 to participate in this exciting 12-week program. All recruits had said they felt a positive outcome in their lives after completing the course.

Therefore, I am now fundraising for HITG so that this course, and ones alike, can run in my local area to support more women in need.

Throughout my academic journey, I had never believed in simply being content with having only university coursework as part of my experience. I have filmed countless zero and micro-budget student genre films, live performances and sports events, but never really touched on real-world client-facing shoots. Realising an opportunity to change that through the Digitom placement was a wonderful and eye-opening journey.
