Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust which provides a full range of general hospital services to around 500,000 people living in the south of west Kent and parts of north east Sussex. It was named by the Health Service Journal as one of the top hundred NHS trusts to work for in 2015. At that time it had 4964 full time equivalent staff and a sickness absence rate of 3.97%. With the NHS nationally aiming to achieve savings in excess of £2bn on goods and services over the next three years MTW has completed a Procurement Transformation of the team's structure.

The key message is simple –“every pound we save is a pound more for patient care”. Better Procurement and better value for money is a key priority for the Trust. We want to develop the best possible team and we are investing in development opportunities and technology to support this development.  Therefore, to support effectiveness and consistency within the team, we are keen to document best practice so that this becomes standard operating practice within the team, ie documented procedures.
