Overview

The curation and exhibition of students' combined Foundation 'Art and Design Portfolio' outputs from 'Creative Exploration' & 'Developing Specialist Practice’ Modules (academic content of those other modules is assessed in those mmodules – the exhibition element of this module is about the editing, publication, and curation of an exhibition of your work independent of the marks in other modules), together with a reflective essay and professional practice journal (PPJ). Students will maintain a PPJ evidencing knowledge and awareness of Professional Practice and its relationship to the final submission of work (the exhibition). This will include evidence of the independent professional skills that are implemented in producing the show proposal, time & resource planning etc and other events and reflexive and reflective commentary on core Personal and Professional Development (PPD) skills. This can also include CVs, web sites, evidence of developing professional practice i.e. ambassador, outreach, workshop and other related activities. The Reflective Essay is a personal theoretical critique of the foundation year that situates the students’ work in the context of their chosen and other creative disciplines, and the work of other creative practitioners.
