Conservationist Dr Bob Smith will discuss how ‘ugly’ species can be saved during a free public talk on Thursday 27 September.

Dr Smith, who is Director of the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE) in the School of Anthropology and Conservation (SAC), will also discuss his research on how conservationists can best fundraise for uncharismatic and ugly species.

The talk entitled ‘How can we save ugly species’ is part of a new series of DICE Talks and takes place in the Grimond Lecture Theatre 3, starting at 18.00. There is free parking in Giles Lane from 17.00.

More information about the talks can be found here – https://www.facebook.com/events/322363611867954/

Dr Smith has investigated corruption in conservation, deforestation and human-wildlife conflict across Asia and Africa.

His work involves understanding how marketing techniques developed in the business world can help conserve nature, encouraging people to change their attitudes and behaviour.
