A documentary explaining the significance of the Russian Revolution has a timely screening at the University‘s Canterbury campus on Friday 23 March.

The event begins in the Grimond Lecture Theatre 2 at 18.00 with a drinks reception where guests can chat with the film’s director Ceri Dingle followed by the screening of the film at 19.00.

Her film, ‘1919: Why the Russian Revolution Matters’, explores the context, causes and consequences of a revolution that shook the world and defined politics and international relations throughout the 20th century.

The film was crowdfunded by the charity WORLDwrite and challenges the ahistorical and mythmaking approaches to this significant historical event.

With Russia in the news, this is a perfect opportunity to explore this landmark event in political history.

The event, which is part of the School of Politics and International Relations Public Speaker Programme, is free and open to all. Parking is free in the Giles Lane car park from 17.00.
