Expert on age and fashion to speak at Older Women Rock!

Professor Julia Twigg, an expert on the relationship between age and fashion, will be discussing her research on 11 March as part of an event aimed at highlighting, inspiring and empowering older women.

Professor Twigg, of the School of Social Policy, Social Research and Sociology, is the author of Fashion and Age: Dress, the Body and Later Life. She will talk about her research on older women and fashion and lead a panel discussion from 15.30-17.00 at the Older Women Rock! event at the Folkestone Quarterhouse.

She said she was expecting ‘a lively, break-out event’ which would ‘shake up ideas about older women’.

Other sessions at Older Women Rock! event include the screening of a short film, watch, about the impact of dementia on a daughter/father relationship, followed by a panel of women carers addressing some of the key issues they face and discussions involving women in the arts and older lesbians.
