A team of Kent students will be featured on BBC2’s long-running University Challenge programme on Monday 27 July.

The team of four students will be shown doing battle in the long-running varsity quiz with four students representing Newcastle.

The Kent team comprises: Emma Isworth, MA Medical Humanities; Caitlin Gilroy, BSc Physics; Thomas Cheetham, MA War, Media and Society; Alexander Atmore, BA Comparative Literature.

The latest series of University Challenge is the 22nd to run. Twenty-eight teams have entered the contest, which will screen its final in 2016.

The show has been a cornerstone of British television since it first went on air in 1962. The format has changed little over the decades and was originally based on an American programme called College Bowl, which ran between 1959 and 1970.
