Dr Karen Jones of the School of History and Dr Eirini Saratsi of the School of Anthropology and Conservation will deliver a joint presentation at the Growing Canterbury’s Green Heritage event on 6 October.
Organised by Canterbury Connected Business Improvement District (BID), the event at the city’s Canterbury Cathedral Lodge is being sponsored by the University.
Organisers also hope to get local schools involved with a competition aimed at generating new ideas for future Canterbury in Bloom competitions. The school entries will be displayed at the conference with the winners announced on the day.
Dr Jones, who is an expert in environmental history, said: ‘Our talk will put the district’s green heritage in its historical context, consider why we should now look to grow it and the next steps to achieving this.’
The Growing Canterbury’s Green Heritage event runs from 10.00-16.00.
