The acclaimed comedian, actor and writer will host a free talk at the University on Monday 3 September discussing the future of the nation’s towns and cities.

The event has been co-organised by the University and The Canterbury Society. Griff Rhys Jones is the President of Civic Voice, the national body for civic societies such as the Canterbury Society, and is well known for his concern about the quality of our towns and cities, particularly historic cities.

As such the talk will focus on his concerns about the way the planning system has handed control of the development of towns cities to the construction industry and what this means for their growth and heritage.

The event will take place in the Templeman Lecture Theatre on the Canterbury campus from 18.30-19.30. No booking is required with seats available on a first come, first served basis. Parking is free on campus from 17.00.
