12.06 Update – the gas leak has now been fixed, the road is open and staff are returning to the surrounding buildings.
11:38 A gas leak is being investigated at the new Park Wood student building on the Canterbury Campus.
The road that runs past the shop and through Lypeat Court is closed and staff have been evacuated from the neighbouring administration building and shop.
Unless living in Lypeat Court, people are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
The Park Wood road leading to the Sports Pavilion and Oaks Nursery is open as usual as is the rest of the Park Wood accommodation area.
