Press Office

Members of the public will have the chance to hear from women scientists at the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, University College London and East Malling Research discussing their exciting research at a free event in Westgate Garden.

The event, called Soapbox Science, has been organised by Professor Zoe Davies, Professor Tracy Kivell, Dr Ameline Bardo and Dr Gail Austen, all from the School of Anthropology and Conservation (SAC) at the University.

It is designed to let members of the public hear about the fascinating research that women scientists based in Kent are carrying out, in a fun and informal setting. This is the first time Soapbox Science has come to Canterbury.

The event starts at 13:00 and will feature 12 speakers talking about a raft of topics, ranging from psychology and physics to anthropology and exercise science, covering everything from chimpanzees and parrots to the human brain and wearable technology.

Everyone is welcome to pop along, listen, ask questions and learn something new. The event runs between 13.00-16.00 and you can turn up at any time to listen to the talks for as long as you like.
