Students gain real-world experience of business software and the certification to prove it.

Kent Business School Senior Lecturer, Dr Des Laffey, recently collaborated with digital market intelligence company, SimilarWeb, to offer Kent students real world experience of digital marketing.

SimilarWeb allowed students on the MSc Digital Marketing module access to SimilarWeb PRO and to complete the SimilarWeb Digital Market Intelligence Certificate Programme.

The certification is designed to familiarise users with the digital landscape and empower them to extract high level insights with SimilarWeb PRO, providing the students with valuable knowledge and industry certification.

Students on the course were full of praise for the opportunity to use real-world tools and gain industry-recognised certification.

Elliott Jenkin-Wills (MSc IT Consultancy) said: ‘SimilarWeb Pro allowed me to gain experience with a professional tool which was extremely capable at delivering information in a clear and concise manner, through an easy-to-navigate interface. Overall I highly commend the quality of product put together by the SimilarWeb team.’

Alessandro Poma (MSc Marketing) added: ‘I have benefited from SimilarWeb Pro because I had the opportunity to understand how digital marketing works in reality. I had the opportunity to learn how to analyse performance, and evaluate the effectiveness of various methods to attract online customers which demonstrated the importance of digital and social media marketing for companies.’

Overall, the collaboration was seen as a great success with the students gaining experience of using leading software and gaining an invaluable certification to help in their career development. Dr Laffey and Einav Levitov enjoyed working together for the benefit of the students and hope to build on what was achieved in this first project.
