A new book celebrating the life and work of the world renowned architect, designer, artist and critic A.W.N. Pugin will be launched at the Pugin family home on Wednesday 5 April 2017.

The event will take place in The Cartoon Room of The Grange, Ramsgate, from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Augustus Pugin is chiefly remembered for his pioneering work, culminating in the interior design of the Palace of Westminster.

The book, Gothic Revival Worldwide: AWN Pugin’s Global Influence, which was edited by Dr Timothy Brittain-Catlin of Kent School of Architecture (KSA) at the University of Kent, is the product of a research project between KSA’s Centre for Research in European Architecture (CREAte), the Pugin Society and Thanet District Council.

The book’s contributors include KSA’s Dr Henrik Schoenefeldt, who will also give a talk during the launch event about his work on the Houses of Parliament. Dr Schoenefeldt is an expert on the building of Pugin’s Palace of Westminster and is acting as a consultant for the proposed major restoration works there.

Dr Brittain-Catlin will also speak about the ‘Gothic Revival’.

Special guests for the launch will include Pugin scholar Lady Alexandra Wedgwood.
