Rewards Application Advice

Here's a handy bit of advice curated for you for the application and interview process for the Employability Points Rewards.
  • General Rewards Advice
  • You can apply for as many rewards as you have points for – we recommend that you apply for at least four internships and four different types of rewards!
  • We only redeem points upon a successful application – Meaning you can apply for as many rewards as you have points for.
  • Points will roll over if not used.
  • We strongly recommend that you apply for at least one ‘non-work’ based reward. All rewards will benefit your employability.
  • Please read each opportunity carefully. Not all will include travel costs. Some will have specific requirements.
  • We cannot guarantee all students will be rewarded, but we will aspire to help you where we can.
  •  All dates are subject to change and some c companies may be flexible on dates required for the candidate.
  • You can apply if you are a Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Postgraduate Research, EU, or international student. Please check the opportunity carefully as some restrictions may apply.

Applications – What are we looking for?

  • Treat this opportunity as a job application. Answer the application questions with the same level of detail as you would a full time job. This will help with the shortlisting process and your answers will shared with the employers.
  • Research the company and the role you are applying for.
  • Proof read your application – check spelling, grammar and punctation.
  • If you need help with applying, book a quick advice appointment with the CES team.
  • Check out our video on how to apply for internships, project placements, and work experience.

Interview Process

  • If you are invited to attend an interview, you must dress appropriately (even if it is a video interview). Please ask us for advice if you are worried about this.
  • If you are offered an internship or project placement, please ensure an employment contract is established between you and the company. If you are concerned about this, please contact the team.
  • Ask when the reward will start and end, if a date has not been confirmed.
  • Do you need any reasonable adjustments ahead of the interview? Please let us know.
  • If you need help with interviewing, book a quick advice appointment with the CES team.
  • If you need support ahead of the interview, please contact careerhelp@kent.ac.uk or the EP team.

During the Reward

  • It is your responsibility to arrange accommodation and travel during the reward.
  • Ensure you dress and act appropriately during the reward.
  • A member of the EP team may undertake a visit to see how things are going on during work based rewards. The team may ask to take photos for marketing purposes.
