The award focuses on all aspects of Kent’s outstanding accommodation.

The University of Kent has won the ‘Best University Accommodation for Groups’ award for the thirteenth consecutive year, at the annual Group Travel Organiser Awards.

The award is voted for by readers of Group Travel Organiser magazine and focuses on all aspects of Kent’s outstanding accommodation offering.

Presented to the University of Kent’s Conference Manager Sheena Butterworth by TV personality Patrick Kielty on Thursday 3 September, the ceremony was a virtual event attended by key and notable figures from across the group travel sector to celebrate the achievements of the industry over the past 12 months.

Residential events and groups previously hosted include the Global Challenges Research Conference, Polish Educational Society Conference, British Sugarcraft Guild Summer Skills School, 5th International Symposium on Privacy Computing, Professional Economist Degree Apprenticeship Programmes, The Operational Research Society Conference, UK and Ireland Computing Education Research Conference and the 48th European Muscle Conference.

On receiving the award on behalf of Kent, Sheena Butterworth said: ‘It’s such a wonderful honour to win this award for an incredible thirteenth consecutive year. This award is particularly significant as it is the readers of Group Travel Organiser who have consistently voted for us each year as the best supplier in the ‘Best University Accommodation for Groups’ category. I would particularly like to thank every member of our team whose dedication and hard work has enabled us to achieve this very important accolade once again. 2020 has of course been a particularly challenging year in view of the coronavirus pandemic so it’s extra special for the University and our team to receive this national recognition this year.’
