The effects a Brexit could have on businesses in Kent will be the focus of a Kent Business School (KBS) networking event at the University’s Canterbury campus on Thursday 20 October, 5.30 – 7.30pm.

Titled “Business in Kent after Brexit: Looking Ahead”, the free event, which is open to all businesses in the region, will feature leading experts from the University on EU relations and international business.

Dr Fragkiskos Filippaios, Reader in International Business at KBS, will put the wider political debate around the UK’s membership of the EU into a business context and how this could affect Kent business.

Professor Richard Whitman, Professor of Politics and International Relations at the School of Politics and International Relations, will outline the possible negotiations that will take place between the UK and the EU.

He will also analyse recent political statements and look at some of the challenges and opportunities that may lie ahead, following Prime Minister Theresa May’s announcement that Article 50, the formal process by which the UK will begin its withdrawal from the EU, will be triggered before March 2017.

This is the first in the series of networking events. Businesses are invited to attend this free networking event and can sign up here.

As one of the UK’s leading business schools, KBS form strong partnerships with individuals, companies and organisations to develop their performance. With an emphasis on enterprise and sustainability, they aim to offer solutions to business challenges and share expertise in the form of consultancy, executive education, research partnerships and networking opportunities.
