University celebrates centenary of Polish theatre director

The life and work of the Polish theatre director and visual artist Tadeusz Kantor will be celebrated at a public symposium at the University on 18-19 September.

The event, to mark the centenary of Kantor’s birth, is open to both academics and members of the public and has been organised by the University’s European Theatre Research Network (ETRN) in conjunction with the Polish Cultural Institute, London and the Institute of Adam Mickiewicz, Warsaw

Kantor logoHighlights of the celebration, entitled Kantorbury, Kantorbury after Kantor’s famous performance Wielopole, Wielopole, will include a workshop, performances and performance art, film screenings – one of rare Kantor footage – and 23 UK and international speakers.

ETRN is collaborating on the project with Tom Skipp, a British filmmaker from Madrid.

The symposium charge which includes teas and coffees, supper on Friday and lunch and high tea on Saturday and access to all screenings and performances, is: £50 full price, £40 concession.
