Mindfulness is about bringing ourselves back to the present moment and cultivating acceptance and loving kindness towards our experiences in the present. The University of Kent’s Mindfulness Society aims both to teach and practice mindfulness whilst also being a safe and open space for students to join and feel welcome.
The Society runs weekly mindfulness sessions for all students at Kent. These sessions involve a mixture of guided meditation – usually led by our mindfulness instructor Lorraine – and opportunities for discussion of what we noticed in the practice. There is no obligation to speak or have your camera on during these sessions but there are usually discussions at the beginning and end of the sessions should you feel comfortable; if not, feel free just to listen!
Please follow @UniKentSSW on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook for news on other events and peer support groups taking place throughout the year.
