Number of accessible bays on campus
We currently have 75 accessible parking bays across the Canterbury campus. At Medway campus, there are 6 accessible bays at Drill Hall Library and 9 accessible bays on Central Avenue. If you have any queries relating to accessible parking on campus, including concerns about the availability of accessible bays, please contact Transport Team and we will endeavour to help you.
Accessible bays are provided on our campuses for use by eligible University staff, students and visitors, and are situated as close as possible to building entrances. For further details visit AccessAble.
Government Blue Badge holders
Visitors
Government Blue Badge Holders can park for free at any time within any marked bay when displaying their blue badge (with the exception of reserved bays). The Government Blue Badge must be clearly displayed on the windscreen of the vehicle at all times.
Staff, students and associates
If the holder of the blue badge is a member of staff, student or associate then they must apply for a Government Blue Badge holder permit and receive a virtual permit. They must also display their Blue Badge.
Non-Government Blue Badge Holders
I do not have a Government Blue Badge and I am a member of staff or student who has a health or medical condition, where can I park?
If you do not have a Government Blue Badge but you require access to more parking zones or accessible bays than you are currently entitled to, you may appeal for a Health Access permit.
What if all the accessible bays are occupied?
You can park within any regular bay within Pink or Blue zone car parks. If this is not possible for any reason please contact Campus Security and they will be able to advise where to park.
Unfortunately, on rare occasions, there are years and periods of times where some locations across our campuses require more Accessible Bays than are available; this is because each year there are different requirements as people come and go.
In the case that someone regularly has issues finding a space near to the building entrances, they must contact the Transport Team and we will work together to make additional arrangements or install a new accessible bay where possible.
Rules & regulations for parking on campus
Parking enforcement is in operation at all times. All persons must adhere to the Regulations for the Management of Traffic when using University of Kent private land.
