Places to relax on campus

Our Campus, sitting on top of a hill high above the city, is in a bubble all of its own. With so much open space, there are plenty of places on campus to sit and relax with your friends!

Student Jade tells us the best places to relax on the Canterbury campus

In the sunshine, the best place to relax is on the green outside of the Templeman library. There is nowhere on campus with a better view! From here, the Cathedral stands proud and clear surrounded by the city below. It makes the best place to sit and chat with your friends, or simply empty your mind of any stresses or worries. Even in the colder months you can sit under the marquee, lit up with the warm glow of fairy lights, and enjoy the view no matter the weather!

If you are looking for somewhere inside, the campus restaurants Woody’s and Mungo’s have a relaxed atmosphere and delicious food! It is the perfect place to recharge and lounge after a long sports game, or an even longer seminar. Milkshakes, burgers, waffles and music is the perfect recipe for relaxation!

There are many quiet rooms you can visit on campus that you may not know about. On the top floor of Colyer-Fergusson, students can hire out music rooms complete with a grand piano or a drum set! Hidden away from the bustle of the students walking to their next seminars, you can fill the room with a flurry of notes practicing a piece or trying to learn a new skill! If music isn’t your thing, there are study rooms dotted around campus for each division of the university! Quieter than the library (and easier to find a seat), you may find it easier to relax and finish any tasks while tucked away from the rest of the University.

Our campus is filled with quiet corners and hidden havens to relax and take in the day. We really are lucky!
