Marketing MSc

My time at Kent was a fantastic experience and helped me to get where I am today.

What attracted you to Kent and to this particular programme?

I studied at the University of Kent from 2012-2016 where I completed a degree in Business Administration. I returned to Kent partly due to its convenient location but mostly because I love meeting and making friends with other students from all around the world. The University of Kent offers a multicultural and diverse experience which I love. Canterbury itself is very student-friendly location too, so it was the perfect option for me.

How were your studies?

Coming back to University after three years was a bit challenging, but my studies went smoothly due to the fantastic support from my lecturers and supervisors. I learned about a lot of new and trending business and marketing concepts, which I now apply at my workplace. Collaborating and working with the diverse group of people on my course was a very rewarding experience – it also gave me a chance to form some good friendships!

What did you think of the teaching at Kent?

Marketing was a fairly new topic to me, however I found that most modules not only informed me about marketing theories and strategies but also gave me a range of new skills which I apply in my current job.

Was the course flexible enough to allow you to pursue your interests?

I worked part-time while studying full-time which was quite manageable. When it came to changing a couple of my classes, the staff were very understanding and were happy to help me in any way possible.

How would you describe your fellow students?

I got the chance to meet a few mature students who were very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Many students were international with varied backgrounds and were very keen to learn like me, so it was very easy to collaborate.

How do you think your course has changed you?

During my studies I gained insights about marketing theories and concepts, which were beneficial in my first marketing role. I also developed confidence within the subject which has been especially valuable.

How did you enjoy your time at Kent in general? What about the social life?

The year went by quickly! I think it was mostly because of the friendship groups I made, and also because the course modules were interesting. Canterbury has a good social scene – there is a lot to do here. The University is also very close to London and other cities you may want to visit.

What careers advice did you receive at Kent?

Kent Business School offers employability workshops and resources that you can make use of.

What do you enjoy about your current work or studies?

I am currently working in a digital marketing agency, which provides services to other businesses. I enjoy it because I am learning new things and dealing with various clients every day, which can be challenging but is also a very rewarding experience.

Please could you describe your current work?

I work in a digital marketing agency which provides SEO, PPC, social media and website design/development support for other businesses. A typical day starts with a team meeting, noting down ideas for creating content, monitoring and reporting ad campaigns and ensuring consistent communication with relevant clients.

What are your hopes and plans for the future?

I hope to open my own business in the future and be able to work for myself.
