External Examiners for Research Candidates

Payment of fees and expenses will be made following receipt of the Examiner Report. External Examiners are expected to advise us of their date of birth, home address and National Insurance Number (if they have one). Full bank account details must also be provided. Kent's Pay Office is unable to make payments without this information.

External Examiners may claim travel costs and other reasonable expenses. The mileage rate for use of private cars is 45p per mile but public transport should be used wherever possible. Original receipts for all expenditure must be attached to the payment request form.

Note: Research Degree Examiners examining a re-submission are entitled to a second fee (as set out above).
