Moving Memory shortlisted for Smart Ageing Prize 2020

Moving Well

Moving Memory Dance Theatre Company, created by Sian Stevenson, Senior Tutor and Lecturer in Drama and Theatre in the School of Arts, has been selected as one of fifteen semi-finalists for the Active & Assisted Living (AAL) Programme Smart Ageing Prize 2020.

The Smart Ageing Prize, worth €50,000, is looking for solutions that support, empower and inspire older adults to engage in entrepreneurship. With advances in technology and increasing trends towards entrepreneurship, this brings with it exciting new opportunities for older adults to contribute their extensive skills, networks and experience to the economy and make a positive social impact.

Moving Memory has been shortlisted for a project entitled Moving Well. Moving Well is a pioneering, peer-led performance workshop that empowers older adults to engage in entrepreneurship, improves their health and wellbeing and challenges ageism. The series of workshop sessions encourages collaborative creativity and is enhanced by digital technology. Older adults can train to become session facilitators, working with Moving Memory in a way that responds directly to their interests, skills and wishes.
