Starting in May, Summer at Kent is a series of events aimed at students who are staying on campus, whether that’s for a few weeks or the whole summer. It’s a great time to meet new people, develop your skills and explore.
Tuesday 7 May: Therapy dog (Medway) and coffee with a security officer
Take a break from revision and exams in The Hub with relaxations sessions and Pets as Therapy dogs. For the relaxation session, you can choose between a 15-minute massage or a gel nail manicure.
All students are welcome to come and chat with one of our friendly Campus Security Officers in the Gulbenkian over lunch time to talk all things security at Kent, and get a free cup of coffee or tea to enjoy while you chat.
Wednesday 8 May: Exam preparation and therapy dogs
Prepare for exams with an exam technique and managing stress online session. There’s also a session specifically around preparing for online time-restricted exams.
In the afternoon you can take a break from revision as Pause for Paws is back! De-stress with Coco the therapy dog in Nexus, Templeman Library. Later on Wednesday you can relax and unwind with some mindfulness colouring in DG-01 in Templeman Library.
Thursday 9 May: CV and cover letter help and relaxation session (Medway)
Need to update your CV or cover letter? Join this online session to find out the essentials for CVs and covers letters including trends, hints and tips.
There’s another chance to enjoy one of the relaxation sessions at The Hub on Thursday. Choose between a 15-minute massage or a gel nail manicure.
Friday 10 May: Global Hangout and gardening
Come and join us for our spring into summer Global Hangout in the Colyer Fergusson Foyer where you can plant a sunflower seed to take home, join in other fun crafts and activities, as well as provide suggestions on how we can be more sustainable across our campus. Free snacks and refreshments provided. You can also sign up for Medway Global Hangout on |Wednesday 22 May.
Give gardening a go at the Kent Community Oasis Garden. They have open volunteering sessions for students, staff and the local community each Wednesday and Friday, 10:00-14:00.
Saturday 11 May: Nature walk in Blean Woods
Join the ResLife Ambassadors for a nature ramble in beautiful nearby Blean woods and meet the ResLife mascots dogs Beatrice and Tara. The walk will take about an hour and a half and there are animals to see along the way including alpacas, sheep, goats and horses.

- Are you looking to earn some money this summer? Kent’s Catering Team are looking for warm, positive people with bags of energy to help out over the busy summer season.
- Internship Experience UK or IEUK is a free four-day virtual internship programme (17 – 20 June) which takes place every summer with a new programme each year. Applications are now open.
- Medway Move free sport and exercise classes at The Hub.
- British Rites Collection Summer School free bursary place on offer for a Kent student or staff member. Find out more.
- 18-25 year-olds in Canterbury can apply for a mini group study exchange this summer in Germany. The exchange is organised by the Rotary Club of Canterbury. Find out more and apply.
