Music Department Christmas Weekend December 2026

A Christmas cracker of a weekend!

The Music Department presents a seasonal weekend for both young and not-so-young alike, featuring Christmas tales, music for film and television and a chance to meet the players of the University Concert Band!

Friday 4 December, 5.15pm

A Concert Band Christmas: Meet the Band!

A family-friendly concert, and a chance to meet the University Concert Band!

Encounter super-heroes and music from film and television, with a sprinkling of Christmas music on top; find out about the different instruments in the band, and come and sit alongside the players in the final piece to experience what it's like to be part of the music! Dress up as your favourite character, and chat to some of the players afterwards.

The second concert in our festive weekend brings University Chorus and Orchestra together in Chilcott's retelling of the tale of King Wenceslas, together with Johann Strauss II's popular Tales from the Vienna Woods, a visit to a wintry Frost Fair, and a trip to the North Pole aboard the Polar Express...
