Why choose a January start?

New year, new you

The beginning of a new year gives you a chance to reflect and refine your priorities. If it’s time to make a change, join us in January to align your studies with those new goals.

Support while you study

When you start in January you're no different to our other students. You'll get all the support you need to enjoy your time and achieve your goals at Kent. You'll be eligible for funding, accommodation and study support just as you would if you start in September.

Accommodation

We guarantee accommodation to all our students on January start programmes, visit our accommodation site to explore room options.

Flexible option

Unlike the traditional September intake, January start dates allow you to plan your studies around personal and professional commitments. This gives you the opportunity to begin your education without waiting for the next academic year.  

Take a break

Starting your studies later could allow you to get a job and refine your career goals with work experience. Taking a break will help you come back to your studies refreshed and ready. A short break over the autumn months could help you to just take time out, volunteer or travel. International students can even use this time to meet visa requirements.

If you’ve just finished your undergrad studies, a January start programme gives you a little more time to prepare for your postgrad. The cohort may be smaller too, so you’ll be able to get to know all your course mates and your lecturers really well.
