Being faced with your first assignment at University can be a challenging prospect. The Assignment Survival Kit can help you to plan your time and provide the steps you might need to follow to successfully produce your first piece of assessed work. There is advice here on essay and report writing, and tackling maths assignments.

Try the ASK even if you don't have an assignment to complete at the moment. Add a range of different dates and see the suggested timescales and activities. When you do have an assignment, you will have a better understanding of what will be required to complete this successfully.

  • Use the information on the ASK that you need - you don't need to read every little detail straight away. The information is there to support what you already know.
  • Bookmark pages that you find particularly helpful.
  • Save your page of steps and dates on your own computer or memory stick for future use.
  • Use the 'Useful links' page to quickly find any downloadable documents or external websites that appear in the ASK.
  • Use ASK as many times as you like to become familiar with the way it works and the range of support on offer.
