KentOne Card

It's a lot more than just your staff/student ID card.

What does my KentOne card do?

  • profile

First and foremost, your KentOne card is your proof of staff/student ID on campus, and it's important to keep it on you at all times to show Campus Security if needed to help keep our campuses secure.

  • cash-pound

If you log in online to add credit to your KentOne account, you'll be able to use your card to pay in a range of outlets. Some even offer a 10% discount when you do!

You need your KentOne card to enter, exit or borrow items from either Templeman or Drill Hall libraries. If topped up you can also use it to pay any library fines or purchase printing credits.

  • apartment

    Building access and mail

If you require access to restricted areas on campus this will be added to your KentOne card. You may also be asked to show your card when collecting mail from receptions.

    Sport membership

If you are a member of Kent Sport you will need your KentOne card to access the gym and other sporting facilities on campus.

  • chef

If you purchase the Flex Catering Package this will be added to your KentOne card. (If you live in part-catered accommodation your meal plan is already on your room's fob).

You will need to have your KentOne card to enter exam venues or your exam number to access your online exams.  Your student exam number is also printed in red on the front of your card.

    Kent Union voting

If you wish to vote in any of Kent Union's student elections you will need to show our KentOne card.

How do I use it?

The KentOne card uses contactless technology so for most access features you'll just need to show it to the right person or scan it on the right machine. It also works the same way as your contactless debit/credit card when using it to pay.

I don't have a KentOne card. How can I get one?

Students: You will be advised where you can collect your KentOne card in your registration confirmation email. If you need to collect it at any other time of the year, please visit Nexus in the Templeman Library (Canterbury campus) or the Medway Student Administration reception in the Gillingham building.

Staff: Your school/department administrator should have ordered your card prior to your first day. After arrival, if you do not have a KentOne card it can be requested online (you will need to obtain authorisation from your department).

How do I top it up?

You can top up your KentOne card with money in most accommodation receptions, however the easiest way to do it is to top up your account online using the link below.

Want to top up someone else's card?

It's possible to add funds to someone else's KentOne account even if you aren't a member of staff or student at the University. To do this a linked account must be created by the card owner and both accounts will need to be verified. To find out more about linked accounts see our Parents/Supporters FAQs
