Where will our new Master's options take you?

Choose from two options that guarantee you a placement and prepare you for the world of work.

Our new two-year MSc with Professional Practice and Placement follows the same structure as the one-year MSc during the first three taught terms.

You then complete either the Placement or Professional Practice option in terms 4–7, before re-joining the one-year MSc cohort to complete your taught modules and final project.

In year 1 students will choose their preferred option.

Yes, the second-year costs an additional £2,000 for all students.

We advise students to only accept paid placements – with average earnings of £22K and £35K for KBS.

No.

Yes. The internship hours do not count towards their 20 hours, as they are compulsory and part of their programme.

If for any reason students can’t proceed with a placement by June 2027, they can swap to the professional practice option. 

Prior to the June 2027 deadline.

Yes, but they need to so before they start at Kent due to visa implications for international students. They will need to transfer before their CAS is issued.

The virtual internships provider and Kent’s Careers and Placement teams will work with students to identify their ideal options to improve their skills development and employability. 

Students will select from 19 different careers fields. The internship provider will consider sector, company type, country, skills development needs, dates etc and will match students with an employer based on the data they provided.

Yes, it is. The provider works with leading institutions globally - 13,000 companies across 80 countries. 

No. Both options offer alternative routes to develop career-ready graduates with CV-worthy credentials.

Industry Placement option: Students gain in-depth experience in their chosen industry while developing practical skills in a real professional role.

The Professional Practice option: Through professional development activities students will develop transferable workplace skills and apply them in a range of practical role-based experiences; including an 8-week guaranteed virtual internship.
