Professional Practice includes an eight-week global virtual internship as part of your degree.
You’ll have access to opportunities across a network of more than 13,000 companies in over 80 countries, with internships matched around areas including your career interests, skills development and preferred sector.
So even if a full-year placement isn’t the right route for you – or you don’t secure one – you can still graduate with professional experience built into your Master’s.

Across your second year, you’ll develop the skills employers expect in a changing workplace: communication, critical thinking, teamwork, commercial awareness, cultural intelligence and the ability to use new technologies such as AI effectively.

In year 1 students will choose their preferred option.
Yes, the second-year costs an additional £2,000 for all students.
We advise students to only accept paid placements – with average earnings of £22K and £35K for KBS.
No.
Yes. The internship hours do not count towards their 20 hours, as they are compulsory and part of their programme.
If for any reason students can’t proceed with a placement by June 2027, they can swap to the professional practice option.

Yes, but they need to so before they start at Kent due to visa implications for international students. They will need to transfer before their CAS is issued.
The virtual internships provider and Kent’s Careers and Placement teams will work with students to identify their ideal options to improve their skills development and employability.
Students will select from 19 different careers fields. The internship provider will consider sector, company type, country, skills development needs, dates etc and will match students with an employer based on the data they provided.

No. Both options offer alternative routes to develop career-ready graduates with CV-worthy credentials.
Industry Placement option: Students gain in-depth experience in their chosen industry while developing practical skills in a real professional role.
The Professional Practice option: Through professional development activities students will develop transferable workplace skills and apply them in a range of practical role-based experiences; including an 8-week guaranteed virtual internship.
