Band structure B

Band structure B carries an hourly rate of £13.81p/h. Please note that not all roles are available within all departments, and that other roles may exist which are not included here. All rates of pay include holiday uplift.

Classroom support

Responsibilities – Supporting Outreach activities that take place within schools, colleges and community settings across Kent and Medway, where students undertake a task or there is a learning theme. Inspiring students to consider higher education opportunities. Ambassadors are expected to travel to undertake this role, but reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed as per the ambassador commuting policy.

Skills required – Friendly and approachable, with an awareness of issues limiting higher education aspirations and ability to work autonomously in a variety of educational environments. 

Pre-requisites – None.

Training required – Core Training.

HE fair support

Responsibilities – Helping to manage a stand at HE fairs, representing the university and answering general enquiries from potential applicants.

Skills required – Friendly and approachable with a passion and enthusiasm for higher education and the University of Kent.

Pre-requisites – None.

Training required – Core Training.

School experience placements

Responsibilities – Supporting our partner schools in a variety of classroom placements, designed to assist the tutor and pupils. School Experience Placements provide valuable experience assisting in a classroom environment.

Skills required – Friendly, confident and supportive, with a demonstrable understanding of issues limiting pupils’ higher education aspirations and progression.

Pre-requisites – In the penultimate year of an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification at the University of Kent in the academic year when work would commence. School Experience Placement participants undergo an interview with Outreach and Widening Participation staff.

Training required – School Experience Placement Training is provided.
