'I played in the City of Canterbury Band – I remember one of our very favourite engagements was to play at the University Christmas Carol Service in the Cathedral.
I remember one in particular, when, with a packed congregation (so packed that students were having to sit on the floor around us), the band played Silent Night, and the entire congregation hummed the tune while holding lit candles. Very moving.
For me, the University Carol Service marked the start of Christmas!'
