Jointly supervised PhDs (widely known as cotutelles) offer PhD students the chance to be jointly supervised by the University of Kent and a university in another country, resulting in a dual award: a PhD from Kent and a doctorate from the partner university.
Ten European jointly supervised PhD (cotutelle) scholarships
The University of Kent has up to ten scholarships for full-time EU (non UK) students who wish to be jointly supervised by the University of Kent and a university in another EU member state or accession country for a double degree (cotutelle).
The scholarship provides a 50% reduction of the Kent tuition fees at the Home/EU rate for students registered for one year at the University of Kent.
Before you make an application for this scholarship please ensure you have read the University of Kent's general information about jointly supervised PhDs. You also need to make contact with the relevant academic school to identify a supervisor as (s)he will be required to submit the application to the Graduate School for consideration on your behalf.
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence and research potential as well as how the application addresses the following:
Contact the relevant academic school to identify a supervisor and discuss your cotutelle plans with him/her. Once the academic school has confirmed it would be willing to admit and supervise you as a cotutelle candidate, you will need to take the following three steps:
