The University of Kent administers US Federal Direct loans (using FAFSA), US Private loans, US Veterans Educational Benefits (or GI Bill), and Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards for students from the United States.

Important Update: Change in Ownership at the University of Kent

The University of Kent  is merging with the University of Greenwich (Greenwich) to create a new, combined university, the London and South East University Group (LASEUG) from 1 August 2026.  The new combined university will bring Kent and Greenwich under one legal entity whilst enabling each university to retain its name, identity and local presence through separate academic divisions.

For the purposes of U.S. federal student aid regulations administered by the U.S. Department of Education, this merger is classified as a change in ownership, and we are completing the US Department of Education required approval process.

This will not impact the student experience, and Kent will continue to deliver the course, teaching and assessment in the same way bar continuous improvements.

US Federal Student Aid:

The institution will continue to participate in U.S. federal student aid (Title IV) programs following the change in ownership, subject to approval by the U.S. Department of Education.

There are no changes to the process for applying for U.S. federal student aid. Students should continue to apply as usual, and eligibility for aid is not affected by this change in ownership.

We are committed to keeping you informed throughout this process. If there are any material updates, we will share them promptly.
