The forum is held every other month and each meeting has a different theme. Through discussion and break out activities we will co-create action plans, ideas and initiatives that will make a positive difference at Kent.
Next Meeting - August tbc - Climate Risk and Adaptation
We will be discussing how the recent heatwaves and drought have impacted how you work, study and live at Kent. This work will inform our climate risk register development and be used to plan comms and other procedures to be followed for future heatwave events.

June 17th 2026 - Developing a Sustainable Food Plan for Kent
Alongside colleagues from Chartwells we discussed the priorities for new sustainable food plan for the University of Kent. This is now being developed into a new plan. A summary of the forum outcomes can be found below.
29th April 2026 - Authentic Sustainability
Through discussions and break out activities we worked together to define what authentic sustainability looks like on campus, identifying the key visuals, experiences and signals that show staff and students the University is taking meaningful action; not just greenwashing.
From this we developed a top 10 action plan, and the sustainability team are liaising with staff and departments across the university to deliver on these actions. You can see the top 10 below.

No, you can pick and choose which forum meetings you attend. There is no commitment to come along to every meeting, you can attend depending on your availability and interests.
Yes, students can claim 10 employability points for each forum meeting they attend. Just let the meeting organisers know so they can confirm your attendance
Yes, we are always open to suggestions from staff and students on themes for future meetings
No, at the moment we are only running in-person forum meetings due to the interactive nature of the sessions but we are exploring how to deliver this online in the future.
