As well as our services and facilities that are open to the public, the wider community are welcome to enjoy our green spaces for recreation, wildlife and wellbeing. Throughout the year we run a range of events and provide opportunities for our communities to engage with the campus and our sustainability work.
Introduced to the festival in 2023, the FutureProof Zone @ bOing! engages the community to learn about our planet through workshops & activities centred on climate & biodiversity.
We are currently working towards achieving a Green Flag award for our Canterbury campus, reflecting the importance of our campus as a community green space.
Our annual BioBlitz is an interactive, participatory, one-day event bringing the community together to engage in nature-based learning by recording as many species as possible in one day.

Kent COG is a multi-use space run in partnership with East Kent Mind, for students, staff and the local community, to create a sustainability hub centred around growing food.
Canterbury CAN is an initiative bringing together like-minded interest groups across the Canterbury district with the aim to mobilise Canterbury's community voice and action on climate change, working collaboratively across the district to advance the city's climate agenda.
Our Canterbury campus boasts extensive woodlands and a number of ponds in a parkland setting with views down to Canterbury Cathedral. In addition, there are a number of walking routes and features of interest across our central campus areas for the community to explore.
