About

Lisa Walsh is a Chartered Physiotherapist who graduated in 2011 after completing her MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Essex. Since then Lisa has worked for both the NHS, private practice and has gained experience working in a multitude of sports including American football, athletics (covering the World Athletics Championships), netball and hockey. Lisa worked at Charlton Athletic whilst completing an MSc in Sport Science and prior to joining University of Kent worked for five years at Brighton and Hove Albion as the Lead Physiotherapist for the women’s and girls’ pathway. This is where Lisa qualified as a diagnostic Ultrasonographer and put her skills into good use diagnosing and treating a wide range of sports injuries. Lisa teaches Therapeutic Modalities and supervises students providing pitch-side cover for BUCS games. In addition to her teaching duties Lisa sits on the advisory board for the FMPA and provides medical cover for Northern Ireland women’s football team on various International camps.     

Research interests

Lisa is currently completing a PhD which is examining the intrinsic modifiable risk factors in the development of lower limb non-contact injuries in female football players. The aim being to bridge the gap between male and female football research.
