- Deshan Hewavidana
Deshan is our Director of Studies for KBS Foundation Courses at Kent Business School.
He is an optimistic, enthusiastic and motivated Business educator who has been teaching since 2016 and graduated from the University of Warwick with a 1st class honours degree in BSc Management and then taught Business Studies and ICT at a secondary school in East London as part of the prestigious TeachFirst Leadership Development Programme where he achieved an outstanding PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status.
Deshan has also completed an MA in Leadership at UCL Institute of Education and has taught at an FE college in Kent whereby he obtained a National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership that was awarded by the Department for Education.
At The University of Bristol. Deshan was responsible for the curriculum, delivery and assessment of The Foundations of Management module on the IFP Programme as part of his role as Subject Lead for Business. In his first year at Bristol, Deshan achieved a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy and was voted the most inspirational teacher on the International Foundation Programme by the students.
Additionally, his modules have recieved 100% student satisifaction rates and he was awarded Certified Management & Business Educator status from the Chartered Association of Business Schools.
Deshan's research interests focus on using innovative types of technology to sustain learner engagement and he is actively engaged in this debate through presenting his work on game based learning at various regional and national conferences such as ALDinHE and writing journal articles for publications such as InForm.
Deshan's mission in education is to be determined to use his energy and experiences through teaching at school, FE and HE level to help make future generations become more well-rounded citizens.
