Short-term study

Academic subject areas

Within our short-term programmes, Kent offers modules in a range of academic subjects. You can take modules across more than one subject or specialise in a particular subject – such as history – and choose modules in that subject area. All the modules on our short-term programmes are also offered on Kent’s undergraduate degree courses, where Stage 1 is the first year of full-time study, Stage 2 the second year and Stage 3 the third year.

Finding a subject

Kent divides its subject areas into three faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences. One of the University’s distinctive characteristics is its emphasis on interdisciplinary studies, usually within faculties, though some teaching and research crosses faculty boundaries.

We strongly encourage interdisciplinary study and you can choose a programme that draws on different subject areas. We advise you to select a programme that forms a coherent ‘package’, rather than a group of modules chosen at random. Alternatively, you can specialise in one subject if you prefer.
