We are incredibly excited to have brought together three disciplines in one School – Classics, English, and History. This new formation is a focal point for academic excellence in the humanities and will help us provide the best education for a new generation of students through curiosity-led, rigorous disciplinary and cross-disciplinary training.
Alumni spotlight
The university is a great place to study, and Kent itself is in a beautiful part of the country. So I’d say: go, and enjoy the work, enjoy the campus, and enjoy Canterbury.

The School of Classics, English and History has a strong tradition of success. With History 1st in the most recent Research Excellence Framework, Classics joint with Oxford, and English as home of Abdulrazak Gurnah’s Nobel Prize in Literature for 2021, we have much to be proud of – and a strong legacy to uphold.
