About us
The Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (UELT) was identified as an area of sector-wide good practice by strengthening the University's ability to support both staff and students (QAA Institutional Audit, 2004 and 2008) based on the services delivered by its four teams.
Our teams

Academic Practice Team
Offers a range of support for all staff engaged in teaching and research. From teaching qualifications for those new to academic work (PGCHE & AFS) to education programmes that facilitate continuing professional development for more experienced staff, including guidance on developing teaching and recognition routes.

Curriculum Development Team
Works to support current and innovative themes in teaching and learning including the effective use of technology (e-learning), curriculum development (assessment, personal development planning (PDP) and employability) through events and the Learning and Teaching network.

Quality Assurance and Compliance Office
Provides the regulatory framework and processes by which the University assures the quality and standards of its awards. Effective Liaison and guidance is provided through the University committees to all Divisions, Schools and Centres, and directly, to external collaborative partners.

Student Learning Advisory Service (SLAS)
A free, friendly advice service providing guidance and information on all aspects of effective learning and study skills to all students through a range of programmes and workshops, student support initatives in Schools and learning resources.
