Qualifications & CPD

The Centre for the Study of Higher Education at Kent (CSHE), based in UELT, provides a base for taught postgraduate provision with a distinctive focus on the field of Higher Education. The Centre is also a focal point for research in this field, supported by seminars and events to which all postgraduate students are warmly welcome.

We offer a range of postgraduate programmes:

Teaching qualifications for higher education are open to

  • Kent staff, full-time and part-time, with a teaching role;
  • Associate College staff teaching on HE programmes;
  • and external candidates with suitable experience.

Associate Fellowship Scheme (AFS) is intended for Graduate Teaching Assistants, part-time and sessional teachers with little or no previous experience of Higher Education teaching.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) is intended for lecturers, normally in their first fulltime post.

Other postgraduate programmes offered by the Centre provide opportunities for further academic study of all aspects of Higher Education (PGDip and MA) and research opportunities (PhD in Higher Education).
