BE INSPIRED & CHALLENGED AT A SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer Schools in Paris

The University of Kent has a strong tradition of welcoming students from around the world. As the UK’s European university, we have long-standing links with continental Europe giving us access to the very best professors, academics and practitioners across a range of disciplines.

Throughout the year the University of Kent's specialist postgraduate centre; Paris school of Arts and Culture offers a unique selection of innovative and cross-disciplinary postgraduate degrees in the Humanities. With classes taking place within the charming walls of Reid Hall where authors and philosophers such as Barthes, Beauvoir and Derrida have lectured. Today, it is a global research and study centre that is shared between partner institutions who have developed a vibrant scholarly community for expatriates.

During the Summer our Paris centre is an exciting place to be with current students involved in workshops and conferences organised with other institutions around the world. We will be offering two enriching Summer School programmes in 2017:

European Summer School 'Revolutions'

Created for University students or professionals. The European Summer School programme builds on the University of Kent’s international reputation and specialist knowledge, offering a stimulating postgraduate level programme combining lectures and seminars with visits to key cultural sites across the city.

Offering students an exceptional opportunity to study film, art, creative writing, literature, history and architecture, following in the footsteps of eminent intellectuals and artists who lived in, and took inspiration from, Canterbury and Paris.  Students’ experience is further enhanced by the cultural and linguistic immersion in Paris, the capital of European culture and knowledge.

Law Critical Theory Summer School

Created for PhD students and early career researchers from all critical disciplines and supported by the Kent Law School and its interdisciplinary Centre for Critical Thought. The Kent Summer School in Critical Theory was created to offer a unique intellectual experience to early career academics and research students.
