Paris Summer School

Unfortunately, this course is no longer running in 2019. Please return to this page in the Autumn for details on the 2020 offering.

Seeking such a unique introduction to Paris was fantastic and we were importantly encouraged to find our own Paris. It was amazing to learn about Paris through philosophers, writers, painters and scientists; importantly I learnt that Hemingway was right…Paris does stay with you and I can now see myself living here

~ Sara Kilian, European Summer School, Paris 2017

The Paris Summer School is focused on the theme of ‘Revolutions’. This allows students to explore how French culture has long been at the centre of innovation in the fields of architecture, film, literature, art, philosophy and drama.

Students will spend two weeks in Paris in an interdisciplinary environment surrounded by the rich history and culture that the city of Paris has to offer. Sessions with expert lecturers and guest speakers will be combined with related excursions, resulting in an intellectually stimulating programme in the Humanities and an experience of living and studying in one of Europe’s major capitals.  All tuition will be in English so although knowledge of French may be helpful, it is not required for the Summer Schools. The accommodation, tuition, entrance fees on trips, variety of lunches throughout the 2 weeks, a 2 week travel card around Paris and a celebratory final dinner to mark the end of the summer school are all included in the cost of the Summer School.

As this Summer School will provide an insight into a wide variety of subject areas students will gain expertise, skills and intercultural awareness from the varied format of lectures and tasts set which will be attractive to potential employers.

Summer School students who then enrol onto our Paris or Brussels full year masters programmes will be entitled to a 10% reduction in fees. This does not include the split site Paris - Canterbury masters programme.
