1pm – Survival Spanish: Everyday Encounters
We will practise essential phrases for greetings, introducing ourselves, asking for directions, and ordering in a café or bar. Activities include role-plays with props and a ‘speed-meeting’ round in Spanish.
Level: A1-C2. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or proficient in Spanish and would like to revise some basic vocabulary or work on your pronunciation.
2pm - Express Yourself: Personality and Hobbies
Through games and partner interviews, you will talk about yourself, your hobbies, and preferences. Advanced learners extend by discussing personal identity, cultural stereotypes, and what hobbies reveal about a culture.
Level: A1-C2. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or proficient in Spanish and would like to revise key verbs like gustar or work on fluency.
Week 12: 22nd October 2025
1pm – ‘To Be’: Ser vs. Estar
We will practise the core difference between these two essential verbs (identity vs. condition). Beginners will focus on basic descriptions and locations; advanced learners will tackle adjectives that change meaning (e.g., listo, aburrido).

2pm – Listening: Understanding Different Accents
We will practice our listening skills by working with audio clips from various Spanish-speaking countries (Spain, Mexico, Argentina). Beginners will focus on gist; advanced students will work on identifying colloquialisms and pronunciation differences.

Week 13: 29th October 2025
1pm – Día de los Muertos: Culture and Vocabulary
We will explore the traditions and symbols of this iconic celebration. Activities include learning key vocabulary, discussing cultural significance, and even designing our own ofrenda (offering) for a famous person.
Level: A1-C2. Everyone is welcome. Beginners will focus on nouns and simple descriptions; advanced learners will discuss the juxtaposition of life and death in Hispanic culture.
2pm – Film & TV in Spanish: Telenovelas and Beyond
We will watch short clips from Spanish-language shows (with and without subtitles) and recreate short dialogues, improvise dramatic alternative endings, and discuss characters and plot.
Level: A1-C2. Everyone is welcome. Beginners will focus on comprehension and imitation; advanced on analysis and production of natural dialogue.
Week 14: Reading Week – no classes
Week 15: 12th November 2025
1pm – Spanish Sentence Structure and Connectors
We will practise forming clear and complex sentences. Beginners will work on basic word order and simple connectors (y, pero, porque); advanced learners will refine their use of discourse markers (sin embargo, no obstante, por lo tanto).
Level: A1–C2. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or proficient in Spanish and would like to make your Spanish flow more naturally.
2pm – Conversations in the Plaza Mayor
We will practise everyday conversations in pairs and small groups, focusing on fluency and spontaneity. Beginners will use sentence starters and role cards; advanced learners will improvise longer exchanges on current events or cultural topics.
Level: A2–C2. This workshop is for beginners with some knowledge of Spanish, intermediate and advanced learners who would like to improve their conversational skills.
Week 16: 19th November 2025
1pm – Travel Spanish: ¡De Viaje!
We will role-play situations at train stations, airports, markets, and hotels. Beginners practise asking for information and buying tickets; advanced learners deal with problems, complaints, and more complex interactions.
Level: A1–C2. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or proficient in Spanish and would like to practise real-life travel scenarios.
2pm – Current Affairs Café
We will read and discuss short articles or news clips on current events from the Hispanic world. Beginners focus on key vocabulary and main ideas; advanced learners debate and analyse the issues in more detail.

Week 17: 26th November 2025
1pm – Asking for and Giving Directions
We will practise asking for and giving directions in Spanish. Beginners will learn simple phrases with maps and role cards; advanced learners will give complex instructions and incorporate cultural tips (e.g., ‘it’s next to the cathedral...’).
Level: A1–B1. Everyone is welcome, but the focus of this workshop will be on beginners and intermediate learners.
2pm – Debate Club: Cultural Topics
Structured debates on engaging cultural topics (e.g., siesta, fútbol, regional identities). Beginners use sentence frames to express agreement or disagreement; advanced learners practise persuasive language and rhetorical strategies.
Level: B1–C2. This workshop is for intermediate and advanced learners who would like to improve their formal speaking skills.
Week 18: 3rd December 2025
1pm – Navidad en el Mundo Hispano: Festive Quiz
We will finish the term with a festive quiz on Christmas and New Year traditions, songs, and food from across Spain and Latin America.
Level: A1–C2. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or proficient in Spanish and would like to explore Hispanic festive culture.
2pm – Learning Spanish with Music and Poetry
We will analyse the lyrics of a famous Spanish-language song or a short poem. We will explore its language, imagery, and cultural context, and then try writing a simple verse or new lyrics ourselves.
Level: A1–C2. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or proficient in Spanish and would like to experience the language through its rhythm and creativity.
