Dr. Muhammad Naveed Khan is a Lecturer in Business and Supply Chain Analytics at Kent Business School, University of Kent. His research focuses on the integration of big data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) in international business and supply chain management. Additionally, he investigates the impact of climate change and terrorism, exploring how these factors affect global supply chains and decision-making strategies.    

   

Research interests

Dr. Khan is a distinguished academic with over 20 years of experience spanning both academia and industry. He holds a PhD in Global Supply Chain Management and an MSc in Financial Management, alongside an MA in Economics and an MBA. His extensive professional background reflects a strong commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice, fostering innovative learning environments, and enhancing student experience through inclusive and equitable education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Khan has demonstrated leadership in academic administration, having served as a Director of Studies. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), underscoring his dedication to teaching excellence and student engagement. His contributions to the academic community extend to peer review, where he evaluates research for leading conferences and prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and Technovation.

Dr. Khan’s research is broadly situated within Global Supply Chain Management and International Business. His work examines the intersection of emerging technologies and global trade dynamics, with a particular emphasis on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics in international supply chain management and trade.

He is especially interested in the transformative role of AI and blockchain technology in international trade, exploring how these innovations improve transparency, efficiency, and security in global transactions. Additionally, his research focuses on risk management, including the impacts of climate change and terrorism, analysing their implications for global supply chains, international business strategies, and financial performance.

Dr. Khan is dedicated to advancing knowledge in these fields by integrating cutting-edge technological advancements with traditional business frameworks. His work contributes to both academic scholarship and real-world applications, addressing contemporary challenges in global trade and supply chain management.

With extensive experience in delivering undergraduate and postgraduate education, Dr. Khan has taught across various modes of delivery, including face-to-face, online, and blended learning environments. His teaching portfolio spans a diverse range of subjects, including International Trade and Finance, Global Business Environment, Business Analytics, Systematic Literature Review, Text and Data Mining, Network Analysis, Research Methods, Qualitative Comparative Analysis, Management Information Systems, Financial Management, and Accounting.

Dr. Khan is an experienced research supervisor with a strong interest in guiding projects that explore emerging technologies and global trade dynamics. His supervision expertise particularly focuses on the application of AI and big data analytics in international supply chain management and trade, as well as risk management issues such as climate change and terrorism.

He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and dissertations across a range of business and supply chain topics. Additionally, he has experience supervising PhD students, supporting their research development and academic progression. He has also served as an external examiner and reviewer for doctoral vivas and theses at various international universities, contributing to the academic rigor and quality of doctoral research.
