About

Rob Bailey is the centre’s Lecturer in Reporting and Writing and Director of Education. His most recent publication was Citizen Journalist or Citizen Agitator: Establishing Twitter in Medway’s public sphere in Ethical Space (Abramis). He is also presenter of the Kent Politics Show on KMTV.

Rob completed his undergraduate degree in English and Philosophy at the University of Kent before working for 12 years as a journalist with the KM Group in Kent. He was chief reporter and news editor for the country’s biggest selling weekly weekday newspaper, the Kent Messenger, before joining the Centre for Journalism in 2011. Rob is responsible for teaching reporting and sports journalism to students on the BA in Journalism and the News Industry and the MA in Multimedia Journalism. He also teaches students the practical skills required to pass core exams set by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).

Rob’s research interests include regional newspapers, local democracy and the role of social media in the local public sphere.
