Partnership with Ghent University

A multilateral partnership covering research collaboration, collaborative provision, staff and student mobility. 


Our partnership:

Since 2009 the University of Kent and Ghent University have enjoyed a strategic international relationship within the context of an inter-institutional cooperation agreement. This agreement has been the framework for partnership activities in staff and student exchange, Erasmus Mundus, co-supervision of research, joint research and the exchange of knowledge and best practice between staff in professional services. 

News and activity:

Kent-Ghent Projects

We are pleased to announce the 2018 call for joint Kent-Ghent projects. Since 2013 the two universities have put out an annual call to staff to submit proposals for collaborative projects with the aim of supporting cooperation and funding mobility between colleagues at the two institutions.

Kent-Ghent cooperation:

  • Inter-institutional PhD co-supervision agreement

  • Joint Kent-Ghent Projects

  • Co-members of the S Group European Universities’ Network, a dynamic platform for university collaboration among European and non-EU institutions.

  • Research cooperation and publications across a range of disciplines

  • Erasmus+ student exchange agreements in Humanities; Criminology

  • Erasmus+ staff exchange across a range of disciplines and departments

  • Kent and Ghent were partners within the Erasmus Mundus Action II of the LiSUM, “Linking Sino-European Universities through Mobility”and LOTUS projects that ran from 2008 to 2018.

Memorandum of Understanding:


In 2010 the University of Kent and Ghent University signed a Memorandum of Understanding signalling our ongoing commitment to the development of staff and student exchange, cooperation in master’s programmes and doctoral training, jointly supervised PhDs, joint research and other collaborative projects.
