Short Courses in English Language and Culture at Kent

  • Farewell ceremony
"Language support in the classes was great. The teacher was able to consolidate the cultural experiences with classroom practice" ~ Richard Caraker, Associate Professor of English (Nihon University, Japan)
  • Canterbury
"After we have returned to Japan, we find that our students are more interested in their English studies." ~ Natsuki Okuno, Kobe Women's University
  • Taste of Japan
"I enjoy bringing students to Kent as they get to see things they are not familiar with. They are amazed by the heritage and the landscape. Also, their attitude to study seems to change by the end of the course and they are more willing to use English." ~ Professor Kinoshita, Kobe Women's University

English Short Courses

We have been providing short summer courses for visiting groups of international university and school students for more than 20 years. Your students stay on our Canterbury campus and take part in a range of social, cultural and sporting activities in addition to their English language tuition.

Bring your students to the University of Kent to boost their skills and confidence in English and explore the rich history and culture of this beautiful region of the UK.

Why Choose Kent?

On our short summer courses, your students can enjoy studying at a top-ranking UK university on the outskirts of the historic city of Canterbury.

The University of Kent attracts a large number of international students, thanks to its global reputation for academic excellence and inspirational teaching. The University has been awarded a gold rating, the highest, in the UK Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework.

Situated in the south-east of England, the University’s Canterbury campus is less than one hour away from London by high-speed train and only a 25-minute walk from Canterbury city centre. In the city your students can explore the historic sites, including the world-famous Canterbury Cathedral, and enjoy the wide range of shops, cafés and restaurants.
