About the Challenge

The Africa Business and Law Challenge combines business innovation and legal strategy to foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Over 8 weeks, participating teams from across Africa will receive mentorship and resources from industry experts and academic leaders, with ongoing support from the University of Kent to develop a detailed business plan with the complete legal framework.

Who Can Participate?
Sixth-form students from across Africa. Schools can register multiple teams of four students each. Click here to register your teams.

What Will You Do?
Teams will develop solutions to address key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as reducing poverty, promoting decent work, and taking climate action. Along the way, you will learn how to create business models, conduct market research, address legal compliance, and present a polished business pitch. 

This challenge encourages students to tackle one of the following SDGs:

SDG 1: No Poverty - to end poverty in all its forms everywhere.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth - to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

SDG 13: Climate Action - to take urgent action to combat climate change its impacts.

There will be mentors assigned to each team and available to support you throughout the duration of the challenge.

The Roadmap

The challenge will commence with a launch on the 7th January 2025, while the big pitch will be held between the 3rd and 7th of March 2025. Teams will be allocated a time slot to do their pitch. Winners will be announced on the 14th March 2025 to culminate such an exciting initiative and effort.
